Rebecca Pearson B.S. in Psychology (Minor in Biology) Syracuse University
I graduated from Syracuse University in 1998. I enjoyed my undergraduate research, but wasn?t sure it was the career I wanted. I spent 2 years working in a laboratory for the American Red Cross. As a technician, I enjoyed the work but really wanted to learn more about the science. I decided to return to school, and I chose Georgetown University for my graduate education. It was a fairly simple decision after I visited the department of pharmacology. Pharmacology is interdisciplinary by nature and our program reflects that. I feel the coursework, lab rotations, and other departmental offerings have exposed me the many disciplines of biomedical science. My thesis work and mentoring have laid the best possible groundwork for whichever career path I choose. The department of pharmacology at Georgetown is unique in several ways. We have a faculty committed to student success. Our coursework and schedules are tailored to our individual interests and our choices for thesis work include an impressive list of highly regarded laboratories. Every member of our department is an important part of our research community. I am now in my fifth year of graduate study and I can say with sincere confidence that choosing to pursue a doctorate in pharmacology at Georgetown is a decision I gladly would make again.
