Proposed Area of Graduate Study in the Biomedical Sciences

(See Biomedical Doctoral Program Admissions for an explanation of the options provided below)

Georgetown University offers a variety of mechanisms for admission to doctoral (Ph.D.) biomedical training programs. Individuals wishing to apply to graduate study at the doctoral level in the biomedical sciences at Georgetown may select from one of four general options which have been made available to accommodate the diverse needs of our applicants.

IMPORTANT: You may select only ONE of the following options per application.  If you are formally applying to more than one program, you must submit this supplemental form for each program to which application is being made.

Direct Admission to a Specific Degree-Granting Program

This mechanism for admission is designed for those who are certain about the type of research training they wish to receive in their doctoral program.

ONLY if you have chosen this option, please select the specific degree-granting program to which you wish to apply:

Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
Cell Biology
Microbiology & Immunology
Neuroscience
Pharmacology
Physiology & Biophysics
Tumor Biology

Undifferentiated Admission into the Biomedical Sciences

This is designed for those wish to pursue graduate studies in the biomedical sciences, but who do not initially have a clear idea about the specific discipline they wish to pursue in a doctoral level program. The Biomedical Sciences Program offers undifferentiated admission for such individuals.

Flexible "Track" Admission into the Biomedical Sciences

"Track" admission into the Basic Sciences via the Biomedical Sciences Program is designed for students who have a good idea about what discipline they wish to enter, but want to maintain some degree of flexibility with regard to the ultimate selection of a research concentration and thesis mentor.

ONLY if you have chosen this option, please select the specific "track"
to which you wish to apply:

Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
Cell Biology
Microbiology & Immunology
Pharmacology
Physiology & Biophysics

GU-NIH Graduate Partnership Program Admission

This is designed for those individuals wishing to be considered for undifferentited admission to the Georgetown University (GU)-National Institutes of Health (NIH) Partnership Program via the GU Biomedical Sciences Program, which provides for research opportunities at both campuses.
